ConsultTed is a software solution designed for the management of self-treatable ailments in the community, without the need to see a GP. ConsultTed places community pharmacies as the focal point of this ‘Everyday Health’ movement. ConsultTed has been created with both patients and pharmacy teams in mind. ConsultTed helps patients by allowing access to ailment-specific advice, treatment options and appropriate referral pathways, should they be needed. It also helps pharmacy staff systematically and reliably manage these consultations, providing patients with the most up-to-date and clinically proven treatment options. To find out more visit the ‘Who we are’ and ‘What we do’ sections of the website.

You can register for ConsultTed for free through our website or at a subscribed pharmacy – use the ‘Find a ConsultTed Pharmacy’ link to see where the nearest pharmacy to you is located. To register, you will have to add some of your personal details such as your name, date of birth, address and health care number if you know it. You can then access your records through the patient portal on our website or download ConsultTed as a web-based app onto your phone for convenience.

You won’t have to pay to register an account with ConsultTed. Furthermore, many of the features of ConsultTed that you will benefit from in your pharmacy don’t carry any additional charge. However, some of the enhanced benefits from your consultation at the pharmacy may carry a charge payable to your pharmacy. Your pharmacy team member will let you know if this is the case and this charge will be at the discretion of each pharmacy.

No, not yet! But you can use our ‘Find a ConsultTed pharmacy’ feature to help you find the nearest pharmacy to you that operates ConsultTed.

All the advice and content within ConsultTed has been carefully and diligently researched. We only use the most up-to-date advice and clinical guidelines to create our content, which is then thoroughly checked and tested by our in-house clinical team. We also monitor closely any changing guidelines or new treatments being released, meaning our pharmacy partners have the best advice on the market to give to their patients.

Yes, you could but imagine having the latest evidence-based guidance on how to treat your ailment presented in a convenient, easily digestible format, personalised to you and your symptoms. Expert advice from our team of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, all available at your local pharmacy with ConsultTed. No more information overload or conflicting advice. This term is interchangeable with other terms describing the same thing, for example, common ailment, minor illness and everyday condition. These are conditions that can be treated following appropriate selfcare and aftercare advice and using treatments available without a GP prescription from your pharmacy. These include conditions like the common cold, conjunctivitis, back pain, headaches, athlete’s foot, indigestion, hay fever, minor skin rashes and many more. Key characteristics include short-term duration and mild in nature.

For questions about pharmacy services, we recommend contacting your local pharmacy directly.

This exciting feature is to help you identify if a community pharmacy can help treat a particular ailment, without the need to visit a GP or hospital initially. It gives patients a better insight into what pharmacies can actually treat, without a prescription. This can help give patients more timely access to treatment and advice they need. It also helps ease GP surgery and hospital congestion. If you then choose to attend the pharmacy they will probably ask you some questions to confirm the condition is what you think it is and to ensure you have the best treatment.

ConsultTed recognises that modern society are choosing more and more to use a hybrid of private based services along with public NHS services. Currently there is a lack of a standardised referral pathway from community pharmacies to both types of setting, so through ConsultTed you will be able to avail of our referral forms enabling continuity of care at multiple settings. This will also potentially allow for partnerships between community pharmacies and other local health and social care providers to develop.

After registering, we encourage you to add some details about your medical history, such as any medical conditions you have, any medication you are taking or any drug allergies you have. This can only be done at any ConsultTed pharmacy where they can help ensure you have all the details correct. Your PHR may also contain any personalised treatment plans you have had sent to you, if you have requested them during the consultation.

If you have a full consultation with ConsultTed, the pharmacy staff member will record some notes as a summary of your consultation. This summary is stored in your consultation history along with your personalised treatment plan, in line with good GDPR practice and other data protection guidelines.

Yes, absolutely. We strive for excellence in everything we do and that includes taking data protection seriously. We are fully compliant with all regulations around data protection, GDPR, cyber security and clinical safety.

Currently, this is not possible. We are a relatively new company but we have big plans that include integration with other medical records with the hope of contributing to that one universal health record, accessible at multiple healthcare settings. Our aim is to complement existing solutions and practices, not make things harder for patients and health professionals.
